/meta/Photos Two Point Oh
After a long drought of photo postings, I've fiinally switched to Google's picasaweb with the iPhoto plugin. It's a pretty smooth process, except picasa doesn't pick up the album date from iPhoto, so you have to do that yourself.
The wiki is currently dead, so I replaced the little wiki feed on the web site with a photos feed.
I haven't captioned them yet, and I'm not sure if or how I'll import all my old photos (it looks like that would use up all my space anyway). But, this accomplishes one of my goals, namely "Catch up photos -- big back-posting, plus some better system for posting." Yay.

/meta/Spring Cleaning
It's a pissing rainy day, and I'm oncall. My economics course is done, and I barely got any sleep.
So I did some spring cleaning -- finally got rid of the old server that I've been paying for unnecessarily for about 6 months, woohoo. And cleaned out some spam from the wiki, and added High Tech Spam Protection™ to this blog; you now have to put the secret password ("potato") in the right place when you post a comment. Please let me know if you can't make it go.
I also cleaned up my laptop, wasted three DVD+R disks trying to backup photos, cleaned up the links section, and dropped the completely-stale projects section from the left bar.
Not that you care.
Oncall again tomorrow for the long weekend, and my parents are coming to visit on Thursday so I'm taking Friday and next Monday off. Woohoo!
/meta/New Server
If you're reading this, something worked.
We changed servers, from OpenHosting to RimuHosting. OpenHosting was not serving all of our needs, and was running on outdated software for virtual servers like ours (A computer that simulates being several computers, so each person perceives having a whole computer to themselves).
OpenHosting had excellent support, however they screwed up a bit at the end, not knowing why we had a port apparently open. This happened to coincide with a misconfiguration of the mailserver that made it look like we had been hacked and were sending spam (in fact, we were sending spam briefly, which really sucks, but entirely because we left the front door open, not 'cause someone snuck in the back one.)
So anyway, now we're on a shiny new server. You shouldn't notice a difference, except that the wiki is down for a bit.
/meta/Renamed
I've renamed my blog. No longer does it share its title with a Pixar film.
It's now called ... wait for it ...
"Blog".
Oh yeah.
/meta/Recovering
Well, I got some of it back. It ain't nearly as good as it looks...I only have the 10 or so most recent entries, plus older emails (Thank's Tony!) which is enough to make it superficially back, but all of the entries from Finland are gone, basically. All comments are gone, too, even recent ones.
Everything should come back online slowly as I take study breaks.
/meta/Blog Lost!
As you've probably noticed, my blog disappeared.
I don't know why. My guess is a security breach, especially after hopping through so many dodgy internet cafes. I got complacent I guess.
For now, if you know what a cache is, and know how to search it, I'd appreciate any cached copies you may have lying around, especially very old ones (I have most from the last two months I think). (Hint: Search for "A Bug's Life")
I'll try to restore things to some semblance of sanity soon, but I lost a lot of other stuff too so it may take a while.
I'm in Waterloo. It is good.
/meta/Partial Recovery
Well, I've got some of it back. Many old entries are there, minus links and other formatting, and anything that used to have a "Continued..." link is still gone.
There's still dwindling hope that my ISP will bother to recover the files that they lost, but that seems unlikely.
Comments and stuff will be back soon. The navigation system is there again, mostly. Once I think everything's back to normal I'll let you know and you can criticize appropriately.
/meta/New Colours
This blog entry was lost by my ISP and they did not recover it. A fairly complete copy existed on blog aggregators, but it may have lost formatting or links.
As promised, the purple-and-yellow "easter" colour scheme, referred to as "gay" and "flamboyant" by my faithful readers, has been replaced by a somewhat more stern and manly slate-and-orange. Hope you like. Still not happy with links + hovering, but there's only so much time one should spend on these things, and I've far exceeding that limit.
/meta/Features and Bugs
This blog entry was lost by my ISP and they did not recover it. A fairly complete copy existed on blog aggregators, but it may have lost formatting or links.
I've created a to-do list on my wiki for things that need to be done on this website. I would appreciate contributions to it. For most people, that means telling me about things that don't look right, or features you want. For some people, it will be geekier things like making everything XHTML and that sort of thing.
Or if you don't want to learn how to use a wiki, you can just post a comment here. I'd appreciate it, really.
/meta/Bobby Compliance
This blog entry was lost by my ISP and they did not recover it. Only a partial recovery was possible from external copies on blog aggregators.
Geekiness... There're many different ways for a web page to be wrong, most of which don't matter 99% of the time. One of them is accessibility, particularly to the blind and others who use screen-reading software.
