/movies/Under the Tuscan Sun: Happy and good.

Dana scored two free tickets to one of the cinemas here. She'd already seen it, but she didn't want to waste the tickets, so last night I got a free (+ 2 x 2.40EUR ~= 7CAD for bus fare) movie. We saw Under the Tuscan Sun. It was good. Some spoilers below. Mostly just the ending, which isn't really a big deal.

I like the movie. I think it's probably classed as a "love story," but it really struck me as just a "people story". Yes, in the end, she gets her man, and they all live happily ever after. But the trials and tribulations along the way are the point, and the relationships seem honest and plausible. The culture they presented in Italy jibes with what I've seen and heard from here. And the little quirks of inter-cultural interaction were well-represented. Usually miscommunication doesn't end in hilarity, but sometimes it does.

I like how the movie was neither predictable, nor prone to taking silly turns just to stay "unpredictable." Things just happened.
