Castlepalooza (1/2)

I went to a music festival called Castlepalooza that one of Clare's friends was involved in. It was at a c. 1798 castle that was partially restored, and partially wrecked. Also, there's a Freemason cave nearby!

Train schedule. Came in handy, 'cause people started saying there was no 10:30 train. Then Clare tried to take credit for suggesting taking a photo of it. :-)
Latin above the fireplace. "Strength, caring, cedar trees, and no protesters!"
Clare on a couch. A very old couch.
The ceiling in the ballroom
A coat of arms type thing, in a dark cabinet in the ballroom.
A declaration, posted in the ballroom
Oh, how I wish I knew latin
Helmet-top in another dark cabinet in the ballroom
Another hat in the ballroom
Another hat
Fancy decorations on the cabinet, I think.
This was a photo I took in a dark little nook of the castle. We were outside, and couldn't see in, so I figured I might get something interesting with the flash. didn't.
"Fear God, Honour the King." Now that's leadership
Dark little stables type place
Trough in the stables
Looking up through a rather damaged ceiling
Clare looking at something, in a courtyard with stables and workers' rooms all around it
Clare, castle in background
Some kind of old farm implement
This structure wasn't quite as bad as it looked, but it wasn't very good either.
Vines growing over everything
Fancy woodwork, now rotting.
mmm..shadowy
Some kind of sink, same room as previous photo.
Vines, debris
Inside one of the little stalls, looking out
An old carriageyfarmy thing
Some hooks for workers' tools or jackets or something, presumably
an old wood stove
Up through a different cieling
From the main bit of the castle, there were these short tree-lined avenues that formed a union jack from above. Each of them had these shorts stairs at the end of them
The stairs were completely overgrown, and one of those things that makes you wonder what the world would look like in 50 years if everybody just disappeared. Or maybe that's just me.
Just outside the main castle walls (not defensive). It's starting to get dark.
A cow and a calf. Cow got angry with us slowing down to look.
Inside a freemason cave
Rock-work near Freemason cave
barred windows on Freemason cave
More bars
River that was apparently diverted to wind through the castle's garden
