Cycling in Scotland (2/2)

In August, 2005, Clare and I went cycling in Scotland, from Glasgow to Dunnet Head (with a wee trainride in the middle). We got lost only once.

From the outside, after the rains had passed
I'm pretty sure that's Strathnaver.
Sun on the river.
This was a panorama (we took a ton of them, but I didn't have the right settings on my camera, and all stitching software sucks, so I gave up)
Panorama continued. Houses by the river.

The sea! At long last! We're almost there!
Peaking through to the sea
I think this was in Betty Hill
Cliffs near betty hill, in the evening sunshine
Clare at the sea!
Right in the center of the full-size copy of this photo, you can see a little blob of blueish-white. That's Clare, climbing a great big hill. :-)
I think this is just to the left of the previous photo

Sun through clouds, approaching Dunnet Head (that's the goal for our trip, in case you lost track.)
Here comes Clare. I'm standing at the entrance to the lighthouse grounds at Dunnet Head.
A sign.
A post for tourists to stand by and take photos. Upstanding young man with bicycle not included.
Clare with post for tourists. Light house at right.
Cliffs at Dunnet Head. It was evening, and there were a ton of birds.
Sun setting over the sea.
More view of the cliffs.
"Highland Cows". They're funny and cute.
A little pond in the middle of the peninsula. There were "Fishing only by permission"-type signs everywhere.
Sun setting over the hills on the head.
Should have taken this one on the way in. :-)
This was near our campground (in Dunnet, a few km from the Head, and allegedly the northernmost campground in mainland Britain. :-) ) Not sure why there was a Canadian flag there.
On the train home!
This little footbridge-by-the-trainbridge has quite a story to it, involving being lost and not knowing about it. So much so that we were delighted to get a blurry photo of it for posterity.
Hahahahah. Oh, I kill me. (The right half of the sign was broken, so it was showing all these truncated messages. It was only a matter of time until a good one came along.)
