Finland Miscellany 2 (1/1)

Amarillo, cookies, melting, Caio, sushi, salad, sinks

Wacky. Not sure how this happened, but it's a neat photo. I think it was at Amarillo, given the rest of these pictures.
Amarillo. Tim (my roommate)'s last weekend-night in town.
Tim got all the attention. :-)
Eve and Sophie. They always have a good time dancing. Fun.
Dominique was particularly inebriated that night. Generally he wasn't found standing straight.
Tim, breaking his promise not to drink (he had a rough Friday, apparently..)
Maurizio manhandling Tim.
Pat, first time in a "club"-type place. Despite his unenthused expression, the verdict was positive.
A bunch of (mostly?) French people, dancing..
..I made peanut butter cookies with some of the precious supply of North American, sugared, hydrogenated peanut butter. Can't find it here, so it's a scarce resource. I ended up making two batches, too.
It got all melty around here. I thought this was sorta neat.
Someone's collecting beer caps, to decorate their walls. pretty.
..More meltiness. Gross. That's not why I came to Finland, damnit.
We made sushi!
Robbie, the Aussie sushi expert.
That's salmon, and it's about to go in my mouth!
That's me, eating salmon! Tsk tsk tsk.
Hildur, after her first bit. But it was saturated with soy sauce and wasabi due to inexperience with chopsticks, so she was brave enough to try another.
Hildur, about to go back for seconds.
Leen. I think it was her first sushi, too. She seemed to like it.
Alex. I can't remember if he had any sushi.
The alcohol collection at Caio. Pretty.
We could be twins!
Robbie, being suave at the pool table.
Clare pointed out this painting to me. It's weird. Very. And it seems to change as the night goes on, even without beer involved. :-)
Lights, smoke, ceiling in Caio.
Same thing, almost.
Carnival party, in the so-called "bunker", the storage room in one of the buildings here. Interesting venue.
..it consists mostly of narrow hallways amongst storage lockers.
..People were all dressed up, as you can see. Except me.
More costumes..
..still more costumes.
..And more. But since I wasn't dressed up, and wasn't really in a party mood, I took off after not very long.
Keian's mound of salad.
..And again, from a more artistic angle.
So there's these green clicky things on the taps, and I only recently figured out that they're a safety feature to prevent you from turning the water too hot. By pushing on them, you can make the water hotter! The one on my kitchen sink is broken, so I can get plenty hot water from it, which is part of why it took me so long to figure out. Plus I'm slow.
