Greece - Athens (1/2)

View from our hostel in Athens
Hadrian's Arch, older than you. 'An inscription above the arch is found on either side of the gate. On the side facing the new city, the inscription states, "This is the city of Hadrian and not of Theseus", and on the side facing the old city, the inscription states, "This is Athens, the ancient city of Theseus".'
Acropolis through the archway
Marble pillars. The fallen-over one fell over in an 1800s windstorm.
(Remnants of) The Temple of Olympian Zeus
Acropolis on a hill
Pillar base
Pillar tops
Fancy!
I don't think this was original, but it was sitting in the remains of some roman baths.
Baths and ruins
Amphitheatre
