Holland Amsterdam (1/2)

The bulk of my photos from Holland..

Stilt-walker in Dam Square. This is sorta one of the central landmarks in Amsterdam.
View from our hostel window. Lovely weather.
One of the churches that we never got straight.
Horse and buggie in Dam Square
Horse (buggy not included.)
Another church/tower.
Yup, they have KFC, and they even spell it out, contrary to certain urban legends.
And they have McDs. (I like taking pics of the various forms of fast food chains around the world, where they're constrained by different advertising laws.)
A quanit-looking street.
One of the triangles in the "Homo Monument", the (?) first monument regarding the persecution of homosexuals in history.
Gnarly.
Josh was the map-man.
and he posed for the camera on demand.
Skate park.
View towards one of the museums we didn't go into. This might be the Rijksmuseum, which was mostly closed for rennovations, but still charged the same price.
"Go to the museum as often as you can." in many languages, not all of which could be identified by us.
(This was outside a museum. How self-serving of them.)
Band in the park.
Josh, can't figure out the directions offered by this helpful signpost.
Fucker. (Caution: This caption contains profanity.) We never did figure out what it meant.
Not us. Two crazy girls.
There they go!
River + tower = purdy.
I love cities with lots of water running through them.
These people seemed to be doing a sketch for an art course.
Inside the Amsterdam Centraal [station].
A life-sized model of Josh next to a tiny car.
So they had this neat system for junk mail. Most (70%) mailboxes had these stickers..our guess was that one side was about receiving unaddressed/bulk mail, and the other was for unsolicited callers (including, presumably, charity-related ones.)
Lots of nice grafiti around.
Umlauts on licence plates -- who knew?!
Dam Square. Not filled with hippies, despite Josh's mom's expectations to the contrary.
That same stilt-man. Took a picture, he asked for money, so we gave him some. Busking = good.
Lots of boats on the canal.
A little courtyard. This is taken from a 2nd-story (maybe 3rd) window in our hostel, at night, overexposed.
Lights + water = purdy.
There was a nice bench outside the hostel, on a canal. Josh and I chillaxed there, and I took photos of lamps.
...many photos of lamps...
..and there were many more..
AAaah! druuuggsss! This was lying on the sidewalk near the aforementioned bench (you *are* reading these in order, aren't you?)
Random street.
