Holland Groningen (1/1)

I visited Sanneke and Annemarie in Groningen. This is what I saw.

This is actually the view immediately outside the Amsterdam airport, but since I was on my way directly to Groningen I included it here.
Also outside the Amsterdam airport
San and Anne had a Finnish party a few weeks before I got there. Thus, piece this is entitled "Finland in Chalk".
Strange chinese music was being played.
You know those domed-shaped roofs in churches? This is a view from above, on our climb up a church tower.
A giant bell. With a giant tongue, or "clapper".
A view from way up in the church that Annemarie and I climbed.
Annemarie said she could see one of her friends posting a letter, so I told her I'd take a picture and put it on the internet. creapy.
Big view of Groningen
Another direction
You can see Annemarie's house in this shot. That's where I stayed.
Errr..I guess I should rotate this one at some point.
More view from the tower.
I should also rotate this one. This is the roof of the main body of the church, as seen from way up the tower.
A statue.
This was truly impressive, if only because Oulu was still mostly covered in snow.
Fancy-dancy contraption for opening up the door...
..just the sort of thing my mother would never allow me to make around our house.
No, this picture does not need rotating. The silly restaurant lost some of their tables and chairs on the ceiling.
That's the tower we climbed.
San and Anne said they never even noticed this statue. There was another similar one, and together they flanked the entrance of the grocery store that they always shop in ("Only for single people.")
We sat outside and had drinks, so I .. took photos! What a shock!
Recognize?
Sanneke started asking this guy in Dutch to take our photo. He says "Sorry, I don't know any dutch" in an Aussie-ish accent. He was from New Zealand. Funny stuff. And he took a good photo.
It was eerily quiet and empty at 06:45 when I was walking to the train station to go back to Amsterdam
A "coffee shop."
A nice boulevard on my way to the train station.
A view of the Dutch countryside (of which there was a surprising amount. I dunno where they hide the 16 million people they have in that tiny little country.)
more landscape.
